My Story
My first love was dance. I danced through high school and even two semesters in college, finding joy and expression through movement. But as adulthood and motherhood took center stage, I set that passion aside to focus on raising my growing family.
In 2008, after having my second child, I fell down a flight of stairs, leaving me with permanent damage to my lower back. I lived in constant pain. Simple tasks, like picking up my children, became nearly impossible. Each morning, I had to lie on a hard surface for an hour just to ease my back muscles enough to walk upright.
I dabbled in online yoga classes during this time but never found a teacher or style that resonated with me, so I didn’t stick with it. By 2017, desperate to find relief, I tried running, but the impact only worsened my condition. Then, in 2018, I took a step that changed everything—I walked into a gym for the first time.
While working with a personal trainer helped, I truly began to heal when I discovered group fitness classes, especially yoga. The flowing movements set to music felt familiar and comforting because of my dance background. With consistent practice, my back pain gradually lessened. Eventually, I no longer needed to lie on the floor each morning.
In 2020, inspired by the transformation yoga brought to my life, I took a leap of faith and enrolled in a yoga teacher training course. I earned my Yoga Alliance Certification in May and started teaching classes that July. My passion for learning and sharing yoga led me to pursue advanced training, earning an additional 300 hours of certification.
Yoga hasn’t just healed me physically—it’s transformed my mental health. Before yoga, I struggled with anxiety so intense that I had three to four sleepless nights every week. Through breathing techniques and meditation, I found relief without needing medication.
Today, I’m honored to guide others on their own yoga journeys. Whether it’s finding relief from physical pain, calming a restless mind, or reconnecting with a passion, I believe yoga has something to offer everyone.
